The 40-year-old Greek Cargo ship Georgios — G, has become a tourist attraction for the locals and visitors in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Tabuk, 55 km south of Haql Governorate.

The ship, which was built in the UK with a length of 71.6 meters, a width of 11 meters, and a height of 4.9 meters, sailed in 1978 from one of the Greek ports towards the Jordanian port of Aqaba, loaded with foodstuffs.

While passing through international waters, it deviated from its course eastward towards the territorial waters of the Kingdom, to hit the coral reefs close to the beach of "Bi'r Al Mashi", which created a hole in its body, flooding its front part with water, thus increasing its load and caused difficulty in the ship’s movement.

Since then the ship has been resting in the same place to date with more than two-thirds of its structure submerged in water while its front and tilted body overlooks the sea on the coast, telling a story of a last and difficult night that the captain of the ship went through.(SPA)
