UNITED Republic of Tanzania registered a phenomenal growth in tourism in May 2022, a month after President Samia Suluhu Hassan launched the Royal Tour documentary that promotes the country as a top tourist and investment destination.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Director for Economic Statistics, Daniel Msolwa said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that tourist arrivals in May 2022 more than doubled to 89,271 up from 42,173 in April 2022, equivalent to a 117.7 per cent increase.

"The increase in tourists is attributed to President Samia's efforts to promote the country's attractions through the Royal Tour film that was launched in April 2022", he said noting that this is a wakeup call for service providers to prepare for the booming business.
