TMA issues update on CHENGE's dissipation and rainfall forecast

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued an update on the remnants of Tropical Depression CHENGE, which has dissipated along the country's coastal areas.
Although the system has weakened, its associated rain-bearing clouds have spread across coastal regions, causing periods of rainfall.

According to the latest reports, the weather station at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam recorded 9.1 mm of rainfall in the past 9 hours, while the weather station at the Dar es Salaam Port recorded 3.5 mm of rainfall over the same period.

The affected areas include Lindi,Pwani,Dar es Salaam,Tanga,Unguja and Pemba isles

The TMA forecasts that the remnants of CHENGE will continue causing isolated rainfall over some areas of Pwani, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Unguja, and Pemba isles, and nearby areas on October 27-28, 2025 and no significant impacts are expected.

"Sea users and the public in general are advised to continue making followups of latest weather forecasts and updates from the Tanzania Meteorological Authority as well as to seek advice and guidance from experts in the relevant sectors."
