THE Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued a statement regarding the presence and progress of Severe Tropical Storm CHENGE, currently located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 2,400 kilometers East of the Mtwara coast.
According to the TMA, the storm began developing on October 17, 2025, and is expected to move westward across the Indian Ocean towards Tanzania's coast over the next four to five days, between October 26th and 27th, 2025, while weakening.
The TMA is closely monitoring the storm's progress and potential impact on the country's weather systems and updates will be provided as necessary.
"Sea users and the public in general are advised to continue making follow-ups of latest weather forecasts and updates from the Tanzania Meteorological Authority as well as to seek advice and guidance from experts in the relevant sectors."
