The concession for the Machipanda border post, in Manica Province, will run for 25 years, during which the concessionaire will be responsible for managing the infrastructure at the border post.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Council of Ministers spokesperson Inocêncio Impissa following the Cabinet’s 22nd Ordinary Session.
According to Impissa, once the concession period ends, whether it continues will depend on the results achieved during the term of the contract. If the assessment is positive, the concession may be extended.
Alternatively, management of the infrastructure will revert to the Mozambican State, which will then administer it directly.
