KAMPALA-The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, on Tuesday paid a familiarization visit to the Uganda Police Force Headquarters in Naguru.
He was received by the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba. During the tour, the Minister inspected key facilities including the Directorate of ICT, the Field Force Unit, the Directorate of Forensic Services, the ICT National Command and Control Centre, the Counter-Terrorism Directorate, and the newly constructed accommodation blocks at Naguru.
Addressing the Force’s top management comprising Directors, Heads of Departments, Commanders of Specialized Units, and the Kampala Metropolitan Police Command,Prof. Kamuntu expressed satisfaction with the progress made.
"We came, we saw, and we have appreciated. I am pleased with what I have seen in the Uganda Police Force. If the Force is well-equipped, well-trained, and adequately facilitated, it can achieve the security aspirations of this country,"he said.
The Minister pledged full government support to the UPF, with a focus on strengthening crime prevention, improving personnel welfare, and fast-tracking career development through timely promotions.
