THE Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) has marked a major academic milestone after the promotion of Prof. Devet Goodness Sinyangwe from Associate Professor to Full Professor.
According to a press release issued by the Office of Communication and Marketing on behalf of the College Principal on 25th September 2026, the promotion was approved by the University of Dar es Salaam Council at its 305th meeting held on 25th September 2026.
Prof. Sinyangwe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages and Literature (LL), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FoHSS).
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Dar es Salaam, a Master of Science in English Teaching from Aston University (UK) and a Bachelor of Arts with Education Degrees from the University of Dar es Salaam.
Academically, Prof. Sinyangwe has published extensively in semantics, pragmatics, stylistics, morphology, phonology and morphosyntax.
He has attended local and international conferences, published conference proceedings papers and articles in international journals. He has also provided consultancy services in translation and interpretation.
Since his last promotion to Associate Professor on 16th June 2023, Prof. Sinyangwe has earned a total of 9.75 points: 7.75 from publications and 2.0 from teaching.
With this promotion, Prof. Sinyangwe becomes the second homegrown Professor at DUCE. The College Management has congratulated him on his well-deserved promotion and wished him continued success in his academic endeavours.
