President Daniel Chapo yesterday announced in Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique, the launch of the Pró-Jovem programme, aimed at replacing the Fund for Support to Youth Initiatives (FAIJ) and expanding financing opportunities for youth projects in all districts of the country.
The announcement was made during the opening of the 9th National Youth Conference, held under the theme “Youth, the Future is Now!”, as part of the Head of State’s two-day working visit to Cabo Delgado province.
Chapo explained that the decision to create Pró-Jovem follows an assessment of the operation of FAIJ, which identified constraints related to delays in disbursements, insufficient monitoring of projects, difficulties in accessing funding, bureaucracy and budgetary limitations.
