The event, to be held at the United Nations House, will be graced by the Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs, Hon. Abdallah Ulega (MP), as Guest of Honour, under the theme "81 Years of the United Nations: Building a Future of Peace, Dignity, and Sustainability for All."

Since joining the United Nations in 1961, Tanzania has remained steadfast in upholding the principles of the UN Charter, including sovereign equality, peaceful settlement of disputes, international cooperation and multilateralism.

Over the decades, the longstanding partnership has focused on promoting peace and security, advancing social and economic development, strengthening public institutions, and addressing humanitarian and environmental challenges.

Tanzania has also made valuable contributions to international peacekeeping efforts and supported multilateral initiatives aimed at maintaining international peace and security.

The UN continues to work closely with the government to advance national development priorities through the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2022–2027), which aligns UN support with Tanzania's development priorities and the ambitions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and the Tanzania UN Office have warmly invited partners and the public to join the commemoration, reflecting on the shared responsibility to build a future founded on peace, dignity and sustainability for all.
