In emergency OIC meeting, Somalia calls on the international community to play a vital role to stop the Israeli aggression in Palestine

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Balal Mohamed Cusman, participated on Sunday in the virtual open-ended extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the level of foreign ministers, which discussed the Israeli aggression in the Palestinian territory, particularly Al-Quds Al-Shareef, and the acts of violence committed in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The meeting, which was held at the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the chair of the current session of the OIC, had His Excellency Balal Cusman delivered his speech, and here is the full text:

Your Highness, The Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud,

Excellencies, Ministers for Foreign Affairs
H.E. Dr. Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Uthaimin, The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Distinguished ambassadors and permanent Delegates,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

Asalam Aleykum Warahmatullah Wa Barakaatuhu,

I am pleased at the outset that I begin to extend my sincere thanks to the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia HRH Mr. Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud for hosting this Virtual extraordinary.

I would also like to thank His Excellency the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and all employees of the organization for their tireless efforts to strengthen the Organization's role and push a joint action to the pressing issues of Islamic World.

Excellencies, Ladies and Gentleman

I believe that this meeting would not have come at a better, and more needed time than today.

This meeting signifies the fact that the Palestinian cause and that of Al-Aqsa Mosque remains as a top priority for the Islamic World.

The Federal Government of Somalia, therefore joins with the rest of Islamic World for the calls to end the Israeli occupation in the Palestinian territories and ensure the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to the establishment its own independent state with East Jerusalem as its undisputed capital.

We also call upon the international community to assume its responsibilities on the need to stop the Israeli attacks on all Palestinians territories, and to respect international laws and norms and to restore the rights of the Palestinian people including religious freedoms.

Distinguished Guests, ladies and gentlemen,

It is abundantly clear that any Israeli unilateral annexation of Palestine or continuation of the occupation would cause an irreparable damage to the prospects for a negotiated two-state solution, therefore Somalia reaffirms its adherence to the Arab peace initiative as a strategic option to resolve the Palestine - Israel conflict, and in accordance with all the relevant Security Council resolutions in this regard.

Somalia continues to support the two-state solution, based on international parameters and on 1967 lines, with Israel and an independent viable State of Palestine, living side by side in peace, security and mutual recognition

Distinguishes Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Indeed, the dangers that threaten the Islamic world are diverse and continue to upsurge. Islamic world therefore needs, as a matter of urgent concern, to have a unified stance on the pressing issues in the Muslim world including the Palestinian cause, and Terrorism.

I pray our deliberations here today would yield fruitful and lasting solutions for our problems.

I THANK YOU ALL.
