The 8th Gilman Rutihinda Memorial Lecture slated Friday

THE Bank of Tanzania will hold the 8th Gilman Rutihinda Memorial Lecture (GRML) today March 3rd, 2023 to discuss contemporary economic issues pertinent to the economy.

According to statement issued by the BoT, Communication Department, the theme of this year's lecture is 'Strengthening Monetary and Fiscal Policy Coordination in Challenging Global Economic Condition' and will be delivered by Prof.Shantayanan Devarajan from Georgetown University in Washington, United States.

"The lecture will take place at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Centre, Dar es Salaam, from 1:30pm to 5:30 pm."

The Gilman Rutihinda Memorial Lecture series were inaugurated in 1995 in honor of the late Gilman Rutihinda, the third Governor of Bank of Tanzania, from 1988 to 1993, for his outstanding contribution to economic policies and development.

The late Gilman Rutihinda passed away in June 1993 while still serving as the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania.

According to the statement,the objective of the lectures, which bring together public policy makers academicians and private sector fraternity, is to raise interest in and support debate about pertinent issues at the time related to development of the financial sector economic growth and development in general.

The proceedings of the lecture will be available to the public through the Bank of Tanzania website www.bot.go.tz
