MANGOSHI-President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika bid farewell to the people of Mangochi on Tuesday as he departed for Lilongwe to open a session of Parliament and attend other official engagements.
Before leaving, President Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika made a brief stop at the Mangochi Main Roundabout, where they greeted residents and received a warm sendoff from thousands of supporters, party officials, and traditional leaders.
Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support he received during the recent elections, President Mutharika said, "I just wanted to bid you farewell on my way to Lilongwe, where I will attend to several official duties."
He reassured the people of Mangochi that he would return frequently, adding, "I will be coming here often because this is where my home is."
On the issue of food security, the President reiterated his government's commitment to fulfilling campaign promises.
"Our government has procured maize for distribution soon," he assured the crowd, adding that this initiative would benefit not only Mangochi but the entire country.
The President's visit to Mangochi demonstrated the strong bond between him and the people, who turned out in large numbers to bid him farewell.
