DAR-The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) has marked a major achievement in global academic leadership following the appointment of Prof. Nelson Boniface, Deputy Vice Chancellor-Research and Associate Professor of Geology at the School of Mines and Geosciences, as an Associate Editor of the 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝑬𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔, a leading peer-reviewed journal published by Elsevier.
Congratulating him, UDSM Vice Chancellor Prof. William A. L. Anangisye described the appointment as a reflection of both Prof. Boniface’s scholarly excellence and UDSM’s growing international research standing, reaffirming the University’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and global engagement.

As Associate Editor, Prof. Nelson Boniface joins a distinguished international editorial team under the leadership of Editors-in-Chief Dr. Damien Delvaux, Dr. Zakaria Hamimi, and Dr. Read Mapeo, contributing to high-quality research on Africa’s geology, mineral resources, and earth systems.

An internationally recognised Tanzanian geoscientist, Prof. Boniface has led impactful research, capacity-building initiatives, and international collaborations, strengthening African representation in global scientific publishing and advancing geoscience scholarship across the continent.
