DAR-The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) has appointed Prof. Saganga M. Kapaya as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Consultancy) for a four-year term effective February 13th,2026.
The appointment was announced by the Chairperson of the University Council, Prof. Joseph Kuzilwa, following approval by the Chancellor, Hon. Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda.Prof. Kapaya is a financial economist, Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T), researcher and consultant. He currently serves as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor in the same portfolio and is an Associate Professor of Financial Economics at OUT.
He has previously held several leadership roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Business Management and Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance.
He holds a PhD in Finance from OUT and has extensive experience in academic leadership, research, consultancy and corporate governance.
His research focuses on financial development, economic growth, corporate governance and public finance in Tanzania and Africa.
