NECTA releases May 2026 Diploma in Secondary Education Examination (DSEE) timetable

THE National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has officially released the timetable for the Diploma in Secondary Education Examination scheduled to take place in May 2026.
According to the timetable issued under Ref. DSEE 2026, the examinations will commence on Monday, May 4, 2026, and conclude on Monday, May 18, 2026.

The exams will be conducted in both morning and afternoon sessions across designated examination centres nationwide.

The examination period will begin with practical assessments, including Biology 2A (Practical), Book Keeping Teaching Methods, and Mathematics, alongside Home Economics 2 Planning Session.

Practical subjects such as Physics 2A, Chemistry 2A, Biology 2B, Computer Science 2, Chemistry 2B, and Chemistry 2C will also be administered on scheduled dates.

Core academic subjects including History, English Language, Geography, Physics 1, Chemistry 1, Biology 1, Foundations of Education, Development Studies, Curriculum and Teaching, Communication Skills, Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counselling, and Educational Media and Technology will form part of the examination schedule.

Morning sessions will generally run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while practical examinations may extend from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Afternoon sessions are scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

NECTA has reminded candidates to carefully read the “Notice to Candidates” provided overleaf in the official document.

The Council further emphasized that in case of any discrepancies, the day, time, and duration indicated on the examination question paper shall take precedence.

Additionally, examinations will proceed as scheduled even if they coincide with a public holiday.

The release of the timetable marks an important step for diploma candidates nationwide as they prepare to complete their academic assessments.
