Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro departed Thursday for an official working visit to the United States, traveling via the United Arab Emirates, the Somaliland presidency said.The trip is Irro’s first visit to the United States since becoming president.
According to the presidency, the visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations, security and economic cooperation, encouraging investment and advancing Somaliland’s international identity.
“During his trip, the president will hold meetings with key officials and parties, conveying the voice, interests and aspirations of the people of Somaliland,” the presidency said in a statement posted on Facebook.
