State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in Tanzania capital Dodoma to join fellow African leaders and Tanzanians in paying last respects to late John Pombe Magufuli who died on 17 March 2021.

Dr. Chakwera has been accompanied by the first lady Madam Monica Chakwera and two other government officials.
Among the government officials who welcomed the State president upon arrival is the Malawian high commissioner to Tanzania, Chambe Munthali and Defence attache colonel, Orton Msukwa.
The president is expected to proceed to Jamhuri Stadium to honour late John Pombe Magufuli.
On 23 of March 2021, the body of late John Pombe Magufuli will be flown to Mwanza city in the Lake zone which is the second largest city in Tanzania to give a chance to residents of the city to pay their last respect to their departured leader.
According to the Program of proceedings from the Tanzania Government the fallen hero will be buried at his home in Chato after a required mass at Chato Catholic Parish.
His Exellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is expected to be back in the country today, in the evening hours.
