NPS officers return from peacekeeping mission in Somalia

NAIROBI-Today May 8th, 2025 twenty-seven police officers drawn from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and DCI, under the contingent commander Mr. Dennis Wekesa,SSP have returned safely to the country after a successful deployment with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
The officers were received at the National Police Service headquarters, Jogoo House, by the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mathew Kutoh,SAIG who represented the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja.

Mr. Kutoh welcomed the officers back home and urged them to rejoin their colleagues in serving Kenyans. 

He encouraged them to apply the skills and knowledge gained from the mission to transform police stations and other service areas into centres of excellence for service delivery.

He noted that no disciplinary cases had been reported during their tour of duty, acknowledging this as a credit to the Police Service and proof that they had been excellent ambassadors for Kenya.

Also in attendance were Director of Human Capital Development Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, SAIG, Director of Reforms, Mr. John Kamau, AIG,Deputy Director of Human Capital Development, Madam Joyce Kanda, AIG, NPS Staff Officer for Peace Support Operations, Mr. Albert Masese, CP, among other officers.
