JUBA-The President of the Republic and Commander-In-Chief of the Supreme Armed Forces Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit on today Monday, May 5th,2025 presided over the oath-taking ceremony of Madut Dut Yel as the new Presidential Advisor on National Security Affairs, and Gen. Thoi Chany Reat as Director General of the General Intelligence Bureau of the National Security Service.
President Kiir urged the new officials to display dedication and commitment to the service of the nation. "Let’s focus on addressing the challenges facing our nation," he said, calling on all South Sudanese to unite in confronting the country’s current difficulties.
The president reiterated that nation-building required concerted efforts from the citizens, directing the new officials to cooperate with their colleagues in other institutions in an effort to realise a peaceful and cohesive society.
Gen. Thoi Chany Reat assumes the Intelligence Chief role from General Simon Yien Makuach, who had held the position since 2021.
