DAR-The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has issued its seasonal forecast for the October to December, 2025 rainfall season, commonly known as Vuli, warning of normal to below normal rainfall across most parts of the country.
According to the forecast, regions in the northern coast and north-eastern highlands should prepare for prolonged dry spells and poor rainfall distribution. The Vuli rains are expected to begin in early October in areas such as Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Mara, and northern Kigoma, before gradually spreading to the northern coast and north-eastern highlands by early November.
The rainy season is projected to extend until January 2026, with enhanced rainfall activity expected in December 2025.0
In addition to rainfall concerns, warmer-than-average temperatures are forecast throughout the Vuli season, which may further aggravate the effects of below-normal precipitation
TMA has urged stakeholders in agriculture, water management, health, and disaster preparedness to take precautionary measures in response to the expected weather patterns.
The authority emphasizes the importance of early planning and collaboration across sectors to mitigate the adverse effects of the forecasted conditions. TMA will continue to provide regular updates and advisories as the season progresses.
