A Chinese steel manufacturer is set to open in June its $1-billion facility in Maasim, Sarangani, marking the first phase of a broader multibillion-dollar expansion in the Philippines.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said that she met with officials of Panhua Group during her recent trip to China to discuss the company’s expansion plans and obtain updates on the project.
This facility, which will manufacture metal sheets, is expected to employ around 4,000 workers once operational.
