Zambia participating in the 20th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM)

The virtual meeting, chaired by Rt. Hon. Dominic Raab, M.P, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, as Commonwealth Chair in Office, is aimed at providing an opportunity to Hon. Ministers of Foreign Affairs to reflect on topical issues affecting citizens of the Commonwealth of Nations and the wider global community.

The meeting is considering, among other issues, approaches to the global Covid-19 recovery plan, economic recovery, health system response, gender based violence, climate change, and social and racial tension discourse.

The meeting is expected to receive an update on the Commonwealth Secretariat’s implementation of the mandates of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) held in London in 2018. The meeting is also expected to receive an update on the CHOGM 2021 which is scheduled to be held in Kigali, Rwanda.

The CFAMM is traditionally held in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. This year, it is being held virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
