TR Office wins second place in 2024 Best Presented Financial Statements Award

DAR-The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) has been recognized as the second-place winner in the Independent Government Departments category for the Best Presented Financial Statements Award 2024 by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).
The award was presented on Thursday evening, December 4, 2025, in Dar es Salaam by Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon Laurent Luswetula, as part of efforts to acknowledge institutions that uphold high standards, professionalism, and transparency in the preparation of annual financial statements.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mr Hassan Mohamed, Director of Finance and Accounting at OTR, accompanied by Ms Naomi Lucas, Assistant Director of Finance and Accounting, expressed his pride in the achievement.

“I’m pleased to share that at today’s NBAA Best Presented Financial Statements Awards for the 2024 financial year, we have proudly secured second place in the Independent Government Departments category,” he said.

He described the achievement as a testament to collective effort, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Mr Mohamed emphasized that the success was the result of meticulous preparation of financial statements in full compliance with guidelines and regulations, and noted that it would not have been possible without the dedication of staff.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to the Treasury Registrar, Mr Nehemiah Mchechu, for exceptional leadership and guidance that greatly contributed to this milestone.

He also conveyed sincere thanks to all Executive Committee (ExCo) members for their unwavering support and hard work throughout the process.

“Let’s continue striving for even greater heights. Congratulations, team! Opportunities are endless,” he added.

Mr Mohamed explained that OTR, including the Finance and Accounting Directorate, has continued to strengthen management systems, enhance operational efficiency, and serve as a model in financial reporting, thereby building confidence among the government, investors, and the institutions overseen by OTR.

“As supervisors of public entities and government minority-share companies, this award signifies that we lead by example—we follow guidelines and regulations in preparing financial statements,” Mr Mohamed said.
He also highlighted that the award reflects key achievements such as transparency and accountability, professionalism in financial reporting, and improved efficiency within OTR.

The award was described as a motivation for the entire Finance and Accounting team and leadership to continue fostering innovation and adhering to international standards in the management of public resources.

The first place in this category was awarded to the Drug Control and Enforcement Authority (DCEA).
