STANBIC Bank has announced the appointment of Abraham Ongenge as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Kenya Limited, effective March 1, 2026, subject to regulatory approval.
The bank said Ongenge currently serves as the Head of Personal and Private Banking at Stanbic Bank Kenya, a role he has held since November 2023.
During his career within the Standard Bank Group, Ongenge has built extensive experience in leadership and financial management across multiple roles.
He began his professional journey as a financial accountant and gradually rose through the ranks to become Chief Finance and Value Officer.
Over the years, he has held key positions in Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda, demonstrating strong leadership and adaptability in different banking environments.
In addition to his work within the Standard Bank Group, Ongenge has also served as a Finance Director at a local bank, further strengthening his expertise in the financial sector.
Academically, Ongenge holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of Nairobi, where he graduated with First Class Honors.
He is a Certified Public Accountant in Kenya (CPA-K) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He is also recognized as a Certified Public Accountant in Uganda (CPA-U).
Ongenge has continued to pursue professional development, earning a certificate in Digital Strategies for Business from Columbia Business School.
He has also completed the Advanced Management Program offered jointly by Strathmore Business School and IESE Business School in Spain.
Stanbic Bank Kenya said the appointment reflects Ongenge’s extensive experience in banking and leadership within the financial services industry.
