AT the invitation of Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, will undertake a State Visit to the United Republic of Tanzania from the 19th to 21st June 2026.
During the visit, H.E. President Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah will hold bilateral talks with her host, H.E.President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, with a view to strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
The two leaders will witness the signing of Memoranda of Understanding in key sectors and address a joint press conference.
The visit is of particular significance given H.E. President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s longstanding connection with Tanzania. During Namibia’s liberation struggle, Tanzania provided a home
and strong support base for Namibian freedom fighters and leaders in their pursuit of independence.
Having lived and worked in Tanzania during that historic period, H.E.President Nandi-Ndaitwah will use the opportunity to revisit places that hold personal and symbolic importance, including Magomeni in Dar es Salaam, where she once resided, and the Namibian Freedom Fighters’ Cemetery in Kongwa, Dodoma.
Today, the two friendly countries continue to cooperate closely through the Joint Permanent
Commission of Cooperation and within regional and international organizations, including the African Union, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the United Nations, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
This visit, therefore, reflects the shared commitment of Tanzania and Namibia to advancing economic diplomacy, deepening economic cooperation, and expanding trade and investment for the mutual benefit of the two countries and people.
