Turkey has officially released its list of African countries whose citizens are eligible to apply for its 2026 electronic visa (eVisa), with only nine African nations making the cut.
The eligible countries are Algeria, Cape Verde, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Mauritius, Namibia, Senegal and South Africa. Citizens of all other African countries will need to apply for a visa through a Turkish embassy or consulate.

The Turkish eVisa system allows eligible travellers to complete their visa application entirely online for short-term visits, eliminating the need to visit a diplomatic mission in person.

However, eligibility does not automatically guarantee approval, as applicants must still meet the specific requirements based on their nationality, travel document and purpose of travel.

The eVisa is widely used for tourism and short-stay purposes, and its availability is seen as a significant convenience for travellers who qualify, reducing the administrative burden typically associated with obtaining a Turkish visa.
