Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its first full-size electric SUV and new flagship model. Announced on Wednesday, the GV90 positions the Hyundai Motor Group luxury brand directly against other big luxury EVs like the Cadillac Escalade IQ, Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, and Lucid Gravity.
The standard 7-seat GV90 offers expected premium features including an estimated 310 miles of range, 10% to 80% fast charging in 22 minutes, and massaging seats.
The spotlight is on the ultra-luxurious GV90 Neolun variant. This version features rear-hinged coach doors with no B-pillar, and front seats that swivel 180 degrees when parked to create a lounge setup.
The top “Executive Suite” 4-seat configuration goes even further with a refrigerator, tables, privacy blinds, and a 6-zone glass roof with adjustable transparency. Its standout feature is a real wood floor in the second row with radiant heating, inspired by Korea’s traditional “ondol” underfloor heating.
The GV90’s amenity-packed cabin mirrors a trend already common in China’s luxury EV market.Brands like NIO and Zeekr offer similar perks-the NIO ES9 has massage seats, a fridge, and a “private tea lounge,” while the Zeekr 009 Grand includes a 43-inch screen between cabins. However, Genesis will likely not match Chinese pricing.
The NIO ES9 starts at about $74,000 in China, a price that would only buy a Toyota Sequoia or Ford Expedition in the US. Genesis has not yet announced US pricing for the GV90 and says details will come closer to launch.
