Five key sectors Tanzania wants Canada to invest in

TORONTO-H.E. Joseph E. Sokoine, High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Canada, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Yasir Naqvi, (M.P), Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade and to the Secretary of State for International Development.
The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding friendship between Tanzania and Canada and to discuss avenues for further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

During the discussions, the High Commissioner highlighted Tanzania’s priority sectors for trade and investment, including agriculture, critical minerals, clean energy, infrastructure, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

He also outlined Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 and emphasized the country’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for Canadian investors and businesses.

The two leaders further exchanged views on expanding market access for Tanzanian products to Canada, enhancing collaboration through Trade Facilitation Office Canada, and strengthening partnerships in skills development, education, and investment promotion.
Hon. Naqvi expressed his readiness to support Tanzania’s economic diplomacy efforts and facilitate engagement with relevant Canadian institutions and stakeholders.

The courtesy call concluded in a warm and constructive atmosphere, reaffirming the shared commitment of Tanzania and Canada to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable economic development for the mutual benefit of both countries.
